Forth like a rivulet flows love unfeigned...

Forth like a rivulet flows love unfeigned From lofty summits of a pure desire,
Where snows are softened by a radiant fire,
Then dews celestial on the steeps have rained
And springs from hidden depths the light have gained:
Down from the lonely peak where souls aspire
And see and hear the hosts' victorious choir,
Down with the joy of freedom well attained.
Love clothes the hillside with a living green,
And at this height on which the Shephered taught
The best blessed homsteads of the earth are seen:
From whence, with fuller, deeper service fraught,
Love flows resistless through the peopled plain
To the vast knowledge of the eternal main.
