Christian Science stands for the scientific elucidation and explanation of primitive Christianity, and adheres to the divine law of life inaugurated by the Master. This Science as taught by Mrs. Eddy rests entirely upon divine Principle, the foundation of all spiritual healing revealed in the Bible.

The first record of healing mentioned in the Bible is where Abraham sought to benefit Abimelech: "So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife." Numerous instances of healing by the power of God through prayer are recorded in the Bible, during the ages from Abraham to the date of the active ministry of Jesus, the "great Physician." The healing power as taught and practised by Jesus continued in vogue among his followers for some three hundred years after his time, until the idolatry and materialism of the dark ages so clouded the minds of men as to hide the spirit and power of the teaching of Jesus, and the world has suffered from this bondage, this medieval ignorance and superstition, for centuries. Nor, indeed, could further progress be made along spiritual lines until the rediscovery of all that had gone before, even the life-giving element in Christianity which heals and saves. These successive stages of spiritual discovery have bound the ages into one consistent development of truth, until its spirit and force are now well understood.

Christian Scientists never assume a militant attitude toward any religion or healing system, granting to each one the fullest opportunity of individual selection, knowing that in the fulness of human experience, under divine guidance, the standard announced by Jesus will determine the one of greatest efficacy: "By their fruits ye shall know them."
