I wish to express my feeling of great joy and gratitude...
I wish to express my feeling of great joy and gratitude for the blessing which was in store for us, when I read in Der Herold der Christian Science that our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," has been translated into German by the direction of Mrs. Eddy. I believe that the German-speaking Scientists could not have been presented with a more beautiful Easter gift. Although I am familiar with the English language, I rejoice with all beginners who are familiar with the German only. This step clearly shows that steps of progress must have been taken by the German adherents of Christian Science.
I would like to give public expression to my gratitude for the many benefits which I have derived through Christian Science. Nine years ago, while stricken with an illness attacks of which had kept increasing in severity from year to year, a dear acquaintance came to see me and told me of this Christian healing, whereupon I immediately wrote to a practitioner in Geneva. She came, and with three treatments every symptom of the disease disappeared, and there has been no return of it since. Liver complaint with which I had been troubled also left me after a few treatments, and through the study of our Lesson-Sermons and of Science and Health, chronic headache and painful varicose veins, with which I had been afflicted for twelve years, disappeared. For these instances of physical healing I am very grateful, yet much more so for the spiritual awakening. Many are the errors which through spiritual discernment have dissolved into nothingness during these years, such as fear, worry, sensitiveness, and irritability.
I thank our heavenly Father from the depths of my heart for having led me to His spiritual fount, and next to Him I thank our beloved Leader, who through her earnest devotion to Truth has made these heavenly treasures accessible to us. I also think of our pioneers with a feeling of admiration for the brave way in which they carry on the work. The literature is indeed instructive and inspiring to every one. What a privilege it is to work in the vineyard of the Lord, and to be able to help uproot the plants which our heavenly Father has not planted!
