I owe so many blessings to Christian Science that I...
I owe so many blessings to Christian Science that I cannot begin to relate them all; but to keep silent would brand me an ingrate, and I am far too grateful to run the risk of deserving any such title. It is over six years since I took up the study of Christian Science, to overcome intense mental fear, and in the strenuous effort to overcome this, I came to comprehend what Paul meant when he said he rejoiced in tribulations.
The physical overcoming was a constant but delightful experience in proving the truth, and it showed the unreality of sickness, for I had been for years a semiinvalid. In a few months I was able to overcome a bad attack of bronchial trouble in a night. A bad cold with a dreadful cough was driven away quickly when I awoke to the fact that I was harboring a keen sense of hatred. An attack of acute lung trouble was mastered in a night, a fever was overcome in three days. The strength received in these demonstrations enabled me to meet and master a life-long affliction of epilepsy for a member of my family in less than half an hour. That was three years ago, and he has never had an attack since, so we feel that this healing is for all time. One of the bones in my right hand was dislocated, and at the same time that I was treated for the fever this bone settled back into its natural condition, and has not troubled me since.
I feel that I only stand at the threshold of this wonderful kingdom of harmony in which we shall surely dwell when we know God aright, but thanks be to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the blessed insight which enabled her to give us Science and Health, our text-book. I have learned to love God in the right way, and now with sincere prayer and continued study of Christian Science I am striving to press forward, knowing that in good time I, too, will inherit that perfect peace which "passeth all understanding." In the mean time I am not unmindful of or ungrateful for the many blessings already received.
