For a long time I have wanted to express my gratitude...
For a long time I have wanted to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has been to me for over five years, but a sense of timidity seemed to keep me from it. I was healed of a chronic bowel disorder by studying the Bible in conjunction with "Science and health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Some time later I went to a dentist who had recommended to me, and told that I wanted a set of teeth. He examined my mouth, and told me to come at noon the same day. He said I would have to take something for the extraction of my teeth, but I told him I did not want to do that. At the appointed time I was at the office with a friend who is a Christian Science practitioner, but no mention was made of Christian Science. The dentist again asked me if I did not want an anesthetic used, and when I said I did not, he called another gentleman, who came and stood by me during the operation. When the dentist had extracted several teeth, he turned to my friend and said, "You ladies must be Christian Scientists." She replied that we were, but mere babes in our understanding of Science. Both gentlemen seemed very much surprised at my calmness during the operation, as I never so much as groaned during the time which it took to extract sixteen teeth, and in two weeks I was ready to begin using both plates with very little difficulty.
I am truly thankful for what Christian Science has been to me physically and in the working out of business problems, but most of all for the spiritual understanding which I gain in reading and studying the Bible with Science and Health. I am also very thankful to God for the love and patience with which I have been helped over the seemingly rough places.—Mrs. Ida R. Stafford, Los Angeles, Cal.
