THE LECTURES

The first lecture in the new edifice of First Church of Christ, Scientist, on Walnut Hills, May 7, brought out an audience to hear Bliss Knapp which filled auditorium, foyer, and Sunday school rooms. The lecturer was introduced by the first reader of the church, A. J. Thorne, in the following brief statement of the purpose of the lecture:—

There is perhaps no great subject today that the general public is talking so much about, and yet really seems to know so little of, as Christian Science. The building of these magnificent churches all over the land is causing the public to realize that there must be something good back of this advancing movement, and Christian Science is being investigated now more than ever before. When our Saviour was on earth he gave this imperious command to his disciples: "Go ye into all the world,"—"to preach the gospel, and to heal the sick." This command was not limited to any particular period, place, or people, but was for all time. So Christian Science, by its teachings, is carrying out this command all over the world in healing the sick and comforting the sorrowing.—Correspondence.
