It is over two years since I became interested in Christian Science, and words are inadequate to express my gratitude to God for the wonderful blessings He has showered upon me in that time. For over fourteen years I had suffered from an illness which the doctors called contraction of the nerves, and for six years I was unable to perform my household duties. I was bent forward so that I could not look up, and always walked with a stick. During my illness I had medical treatment almost constantly and tried a good many physicians (Some of the best), two of whom advised me to go into a hospital. I was much opposed to this; but I knew that something must be done, so I said I would go. I was in the hospital a month, and my own doctor attended me. The doctor and nurses did their very best for me; and when I came out I did seem a little better in some ways. I was advised to go to the moors, where I stayed about two months and came home rather worse in some ways. I also had electrical treatment, but it was of no avail.

The first week I commenced to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, these words impressed me very much: "Cling steadfastly to God and His idea" (p. 495). There seemed to be fear, but I chung steadfastly; and then came the uplifting, the healing power of God, and I went on day by day "from strength unto strength," knowing that God has all power. By the loving help of a practitioner, within the first fortnight I was up and doing all kinds of work, such as I had not done for years. During my illness I could neither read nor write, but now, thank God, I can do both. For years I had never walked out alone, and when my sisters saw me they could scarcely believe it possible; and they told me afterward that they stood at the top of the street, watching until I got to the bottom. These are only a few of the many blessings I have received through divine Love, which meets all our needs. White there are yet some weeds of error to be rooted out, I have confidence to press onward. By God's tender love and watchful care we are encouraged to labor on, knowing that he who endureth to the end shall be saved.

For the physical healing I am very grateful, but more so for the spiritual healing,—the understanding of God as an ever-present help and the love for God and man which this truth brings to us. I desire to be not only a hearer but a doer of the word, because I realize that it is only by knowing and doing the will of God that we can help others. Not only myself, but my husband and also the two children have been healed of many ills through my understanding of God as the giver of all good. It is with a very thankful heart that I send this testimony, and my earnest prayer is that I may prove my gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, who has shown us the way to health and holiness.
