Since I first began the study of Christian Science, over...
Since I first began the study of Christian Science, over ten years ago, it has truly been to me the promised Comforter, lifting me out of many dark places and bringing me into the light which heals and saves. Before I heard of Christian Science I was very delicate, suffering intensely with nervousness, besides almost constant colds; and I seemed never to be free from headache. Of these and many other ills I have been healed through the loving work of Christian Science practitioners and my own study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. The most precious thing to me, however, is the happiness which nothing can take from me and the freedom from doubt, fear, and the constant struggle to gain an understanding of mortal existence.
From the time that I was eight years of age I constantly read the Bible and loved it, but there was much which seemed hidden, and I longed for an explanation. I was a church-member and attended a Bible class, but when I first found Christian Science I knew that it was the truth, and the only thing which I could honestly do was to follow the higher leading, so I severed my church connection and joined The Mother Church. I also had class instruction from one of Mrs. Eddy's students, and I have been enabled to take this healing message of Christian Science to others. My most earnest prayer always had been that I might be led aright, and that nothing might ever separate me from God. This prayer I feel has been answered through our dear Leader's loving, faithful work for us, in bringing to us a knowledge of Christian Science, the Comforter which we have with us always.
I am earnestly striving to learn the meaning of obedience, and so prove my unending gratitude to our Father-Mother God, for the healing Christ, also for our obedient Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and for all that I have found through Christian Science.—Rebecca H. Whelen, Philadelphia, Pa.
