It is over six years since I became interested in Christian Science, and words are inadequate to express my gratitude to God for the wonderful blessings He has showered upon me in that time. I had been suffering with bronchial trouble, asthma, a most distressing cough, and many other complications, and my condition was rapidly becoming worse. Everything had been done, according to materia medica, to alleviate my suffering, but nothing availed. I had become discouraged and hopeless, when a dear Scientist from the South, who was a guest in the same house with me, told me of Christian Science, and of its wonderful healing power. I asked her if she would help me, and she at once gave me a treatment, and another in the evening. I slept soundly that night, which was something I had not been able to do for several years, such a restful sleep that I awakened feeling refreshed and happy. In two or three weeks I was perfectly well. Since that time I have been healed of many ailments, one being a very serious trouble which was considered incurable.
I thank God for all His goodness, and the dear Christ who has shown us the way. I wish to thank all those who have helped me in the understanding of this truth that makes free; and I feel deeply grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that she has been able to give us this message of Love which teaches us to feel the nearness of God; that Truth is our shield and buckler; that His angels have charge over us, and that if we call upon Him, He will answer, and will be with us in trouble, and bring us out of our distresses.—Mrs. Agnes Mathews, Baltimore, Md.
I am glad to acknowledge what Christian Science has done for me. Two years ago I was taken with what the doctors said was a lingering fever. I was absent from my home, and I asked a physician to treat me, and get me well enough to go home. I gained enough strength to get home, and tried to work. One day, while cutting a piece of timber, a chip flew into my left eye, injuring it badly. I went to an eye specialist in Augusta, who treated me for two weeks, with very little benefit. He pronounced it an almost hopeless injury.
