I wish to express the gratitude I feel for the healing...
I wish to express the gratitude I feel for the healing and new life which have come to me through Christian Science. I had suffered more or less all my life from a severe form of eye trouble, which could not be corrected by glasses. For eleven years I had been going first to one specialist then to another, sometimes being temporarily relieved, but gradually growing worse until I could not see even with glasses to read or sew. Finally I could scarcely do my housework. During this time I suffered intensely, the pain in my eyes being so severe that at times I was forced to take an anesthetic.
I was in this seemingly hopeless state, thinking there was no chance for me and that I must lose my sight, when I turned to Christian Science. At first I did not dare tell the practitioner how bad my eyes were, for fear she would not take the case—I only begged her to relieve the pain. I shall never forget that first ray of hope or my astonishment when she told me that it was not only possible for me to be free from pain, but that it was my divine right to have perfect sight. Her statement has been proven true. I was treated for five weeks, during which time there were some severe struggles with the pain and awful fear; but gradually all vanished. I laid aside my glasses during these treatments, and my sight has improved by degrees, until now, over a year and a half since, it is better than ever before. I read, sew, and do any close work I wish with perfect ease.
For this beautiful healing I am indeed grateful, and I am striving so to live that my life may prove my gratitude. Priceless though my sight seemed, the spiritual uplifting, with its sweet sense of peace, contentment, and hope, is infinitely more to me.
