I was troubled for twenty years with a weak heart and varicose veins. I had to wear elastic stockings always, and being unable to attend to my business, I lost a good deal in consequence. I was most of the time under a doctor's care and taking medicine, but continued to get worse. The doctor told me that my heart would never be strong, and I had no hope of ever being well.

At that time, when all seemed night, I came to Christian Science and began to read that wonderful book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I told no one outside of my house what I was doing, but read all I could, and in about a month I was healed. My heart became strong and I was able to leave off my elastic stockings. This was over four years ago, and I have been free from sickness ever since. I am now able to attend to my business, which has increased considerably. A few weeks after I came to Christian Science all desire for smoking left me. For the physical healing I am grateful, but much more so for the better understanding of God that Christian Science has given me. I now know that He is ever-present Life and Love and an ever-present help in time of need. One can rejoice because of this God-given freedom from sickness, but one's heart goes out toward those who are yet in the bondage of sickness and fear. It is the truth, the love of God, that makes free.

For this freedom, and for the spiritual illumination which I have received, I thank God, the giver of all good. Christian Science has shown me the way to that peace, joy, health, and harmony which passes all human understanding.
