After many years of sickness and suffering, I was healed through Christian Science, and over eleven years have passed since then with no return of this trouble. I had suffered the greater part of my life with severe spinal headache, and many years with heart trouble, also the torture of a stomach disorder, accompanied by an almost incessant aching of the whole body; but I was healed— made free—in the way Jesus healed the sick. He said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." I was healed in one treatment of an abscess and of varicose veins. I found this truth made plain and demonstrable through the teachings of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and I was led step by step to the threshold of the open door which we find in this book.

We had been reading from the text-book only a short time, when I was awakened one night with a sense of great agony, from an attack of the heart trouble. I awoke my husband and asked for help, expecting the usual material aid; but he said very quietly, "We will see what the text-book will do for you." He read aloud to me for perhaps ten minutes, and as I listened it seemed so beautiful to me that I forgot everything else but to listen. In a few moments I was free—there was no more pain. I slept, and awoke in the morning with such a sense of rest! I felt so free and so happy that I went about the house singing. A new life presented itself to me, and the "still small voice" seemed to say, "Be still, and know that I am God." I destroyed all the medicine I could find, which meant many kinds and a great quantity; but I never doubted that voice, and pressed onward with an assurance that "with God all things are possible." Later the trouble again presented itself, but was very quickly overcome.
