AMONG THE CHURCHES

Enid Eagle

ENID, OKLA.

The new Christian Science church at 925 West Main street was opened Sunday morning [June 26]. Although the day was excessively hot, the church proved to be all that was anticipated as a cool assembly room. The structure is neatly finished inside and presented a very attractive appearance. No special ceremonies marked the opening, except that the president of the church read a history of the organization, in which he said in part,—

First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Enid, was organized in 1899. Regular services were held at various places until September of the following year, when they were temporarily discontinued; but the seed had been sown, and the great desire felt by a few loyal members, that the work be reestablished, resulted in a meeting in May, 1901, when church officers were elected. In August, 1901, arrangements were made to hold services regularly in a private residence on North Independence avenue, with a reading-room at the same place.
