I will add my thanks to those that are given each week in the Sentinel. I did not come to Christian Science through my own physical healing, but through that of my child, who was cured of a very severe case of whooping cough in one week's treatment in Christian Science. This led me to investigate its teaching, and I have seen many beautiful demonstrations since coming into this truth.

I will relate a case of mental surgery which happened to me over a year ago. I was carrying a large box of flowers, and as that morning the walk was very slippery, I fell backward, striking on this box. I felt that I was severely injured, but I declared the truth, repeating the "scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468) over and over; still the pain seemed so real that I at once took a street-car and visited a Christian Science practitioner. I had a treatment, but the pain did not cease. I, however, went to my place of business and stayed till noon, when I went home and tried to lie down and read in Science and Health; but the symptoms were very serious, and in the evening I telephoned to the practitioner that she should come and see me again, as I could not lie down or even sit up except in one position. I did not sleep any that night, and was not much better the next morning, but that day I read in Science and Health and realized that error is never real, for God is All-in-all. The next night I slept some, and in the morning I got up, dressed myself, and when the practitioner came I opened the door for her. I stayed up all day, and in the evening I went out to get shaved. The next morning I went to my place of business and worked all day.

This experience showed me that God can heal anything, no matter how serious it may seem. In the epistle to the Hebrews we read that "the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword." I am very thankful to God, and to our beloved Leader, who has unfolded to us this heavenly truth that all mankind may avail themselves of its great blessings. Christian Science heals the sick and the broken-hearted. I am also grateful for the knowledge of this God-given truth, so that I can help others to find the way heavenward, for this is the command Jesus has given us.
