I have learned in Christian Science that there is but one power, the power of Truth and Love, to destroy sin, sickness, and death. This divine power, believed in and applied, enabled me years ago to lay aside glasses, after having used them for five years. My husband had worn glasses twenty-five years when the demonstration of normal vision was made. "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494), Mrs. Eddy tells us, and this reflection of perfect vision proved to be the supply for his human need.
Some time ago a severe accident came to me. My neck was badly twisted, and in extricating myself my spine was hurt, causing severe pain; but the truth of being was declared, and I was enabled to attend to the duty of caring for another. The pain, however, finally located in and about one eye. One Friday evening the appearance became alarming, and my suffering was intense until the following Sunday morning. I had always gone over the Lesson at the hour of service when unable to attend, but this time every effort to read was a failure. Finally I removed the bandage, tossed it aside, and vehemently declared a part of the Scriptural statement in Romans viii. 38, 39. From the study of the Bible, and by gaining light from Science and Health, the demonstration was made, and with joy I was able to "draw water out of the wells of salvation." My weakness was replaced by strength, and the damaged eye was out of thought. By Monday evening, happily, the pupil was normal, and perfect vision was mine! I can best express my gratitude for Christian Science by carefully studying the letter, imbibing the spirit (as counseled by our Leader), and in striving to demonstrate the healing power of Truth and Love.
