Christian Science is a faith that heals and protects. Recognizing that fear is the chief cause of the transmission of disease, its first work is to allay individual and family fear, and replace it with that assurance of God's omnipotence and omnipresence which is a perpetual protection. "The law of the Spirit of life," which made Paul free, is ceaselessly operative and removes every "menace and danger" from the individual and the community. Christian Scientists recognize their duty as citizens and are willing and desire to obey the laws of the community in which they live.
