NO DEATH
While writing to a dear friend of the fact that Christian Science had made a wonderful demonstration for me, not only physically but spiritually, a beautiful thought came to me. As it flashed through my consciousness it answered for me a statement to which I had given much thought, namely, that there is no death. In a moment I realized as never before its meaning.
In a lodge of which I was an active member for some years, a service is held once a year in remembrance of the departed brethren. These services are held in some public place, which gives all an opportunity to pay their tribute of love and respect. A list of the names is given to the speaker at the ceremonies, and he calls each one's name distinctly three times. And what is the response in the hearts of this assembly of sorrowing ones, as the names of their beloved are again recalled? Often there is nothing but regret; indeed it is to most of them nothing but death. Again, let a Christian Scientist attend this same ceremony and conduct it from a scientific standpoint, and what would be his thought? As this question came to me, I recalled the words of Christ Jesus: "Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world;" and again these words: "If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death."
How beautiful is this thought to all those who can realize and know the fulness of this glorious truth! Need I add that my heart has gone out in thankful gratitude and love to our revered Leader, through whom the true concept of God as Life, Truth, and Love was revealed to us.
