I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and mine. I came to Christian Science through the healing of our little boy, who had suffered with a rupture from the time he was one year old until he was four and a half, when I took him to a Christian Science practitioner and he was healed in a short time.
Another demonstration of the power of Truth was made over our seven-year-old boy in January, 1909, when we were having some grading done. The men left one of the wheelers in such a condition that it was easily moved by a child, and both of his hands were caught. Two fingers of the right hand were almost entirely severed and every finger on the left hand was terribly lacerated. A Christian Science practitioner was called and absent treatment given. In two hours the child was free from pain, but it seemed best to call a doctor to have the hands dressed. The doctor who was called said it would be a wonder if the fingers were saved, but he would bind them on and in three days he could tell whether they would have to be amputated or not. We were told to keep the child quiet and to give him only a little light food. This injury occurred at half past five in the afternoon and it was eight before the doctor arrived. After twelve o'clock the child slept well, and the next morning he ate a hearty breakfast and played as usual. He slept well at night, ate heartily, and was bright and cheerful all the time. In two weeks the bandages were removed and in four weeks he went back to school, using his pen and pencil. In six weeks the stitches fell away, leaving the fingers perfectly healed.
It is six years since we first came to Christian Science, and there has been no material remedy used in our home, though we have had many demonstrations of the truth. We are indeed grateful to God, the giver of all good, and to Mrs. Eddy for her ministry to the world.
