It is with a feeling of deep gratitude to God and to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that I wish to testify to the infinite blessings which have come to me through the revelation of divine Truth and Love. When a few years ago I became acquainted with the teachings of Christian Science. I was in a state of utter discouragement. Since childhood I had suffered from nervous irritability, severe attacks of headache, and other troubles, and as the years went by these aiments were often seemingly unbearable. Material remedies had brought me but temporary relief, and had proved absolutely ineffective as a real curative means. I was at variance with God, any my trust in Him as a God of love and a Father to His children began to waver.
The truth did not bring quick results at first, the light dispersing but slowly the dense mist of material beliefs; but, although these past years have meant a hard struggle with error, still I look back upon them with gratitude, for they show me the eternal activity of the law of the saving, divine Truth which delivers us from the bondage of disease and sin. The text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, which I started to read after a few weeks, at once interested me through its logic, thus preventing the rise of doubts as to the truth of the statements contained therein. Yet there were hours of great discouragement and despondency, during which the tempter would whisper to me that the truth would not help me after all. But the arm of divine Love held and protected me, and I was led safely through the darkness. The physical ailments have almost entirely disappeared, and the old faults must also flee before the divine Spirit.
I am very grateful for the gradual dropping off of the fetters of fear: I know that God is my Life, and therefore that I need not fear. I rejoice in the thought of the way being open for me to enter in and to assimilate more and more of the truth through earnest and sincere striving, which will enable me to become a greater help to others.
