I feel impelled to write a brief account of some of the many blessings I have received in the past four years through a slight understanding of the Principle of Christian Science. I became interested in this truth for the help of my first baby, who was born under materia medica and who scarcely ceased crying night or day for months. Every known remedy was used, also two slight operations were performed, but nothing seemed to have a soothing effect until I applied for Christian Science treatment. The baby began to improve and to sleep better almost at once. I had treatment for him only a short time, but I continued to read and study Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy in connection with the Bible, also some Christian Science periodicals that were given me.
Severe burns, fever, and accidents have all been overcome with the word of Truth, and I am most grateful for this effectual healing agency, but much more grateful for a practical religion that is fast completely filling my life; whereas, before coming to Christian Science I was almost as spiritually dead as a mortal could be, having only a vague sense that God did exist. I would like to add how grateful I am for the periodicals, having recently been helped and given light to deal with what appeared to be an overwhelming sense of evil by reading the Sentinel. Almost every article seemed to fit my case, and it has always been to me a friend in need. So also in the case of the Hymnal, which has so often helped me to overcome sickness as manifested in the children, by sitting down at the piano and opening my thought to the helpful promises as I sang. I know it would be helpful for any mother to have our Hymnal in her home. I am grateful to God for all the good I have received, and also to Mrs. Eddy, who has been and is our friend indeed.
Mrs. J. H. Montgomery, Bairdstown, Cal.
