With thanks to God, and to dear Mrs. Eddy, our beloved...

With thanks to God, and to dear Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader, I will tell some of the good I have received through Christian Science, as I could not enumerate all of the blessings that have come to me through this healing truth. A little over three years ago I suffered from a second attack of abdominal trouble. I was packed in ice and my people thought I could not recover. The physician was very kind and did all he could for me, and while I did recover from this attack, yet I was unable to do any work whatever, and I was continually oppressed with the fear that I might at any time have a relapse. I was advised to have an operation, but to this I would not submit, even though I was very tired of living constantly in pain and fear. I also had a number of other ailments,—rheumatic and catarrhal trouble, headaches, etc.

One day a dear friend said to me, "Come up to my house tomorrow and I will tell you of something better than an operation." This was just like having a stone lifted from my heart, to hear of something better than an operation, and I lost no time in availing myself of her invitation. This friend told me that her mother, then seventy-eight years old, had been healed in Christian Science, and she gave me a dear little book to read, "Rudimental Divine Science," by Mrs. Eddy.
