It would take pages to tell even a portion of what Christian Science has done for me and my family. For fifteen years we have been endeavoring to understand and to live the truth as taught by Mrs. Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and her other writings, and we have been convinced times without number that Mrs. Eddy has given to the world a correct knowledge of God and man's relation to Him. On page 197 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy says, "Many of the effeminate constitutions of our time will never grow robust until individual opinions improve and mortal belief loses some portion of its error." This statement applied to my case exactly. I seemed delicately constituted and was liable to almost any ailment. A predisposition to catch cold had resulted in an unhealthy condition of my whole system, and I often suffered almost the entire winter season. I became subject to severe headaches, which continued throughout my girlhood and motherhood and increased in severity as the years went on. Weak heart action caused much anxiety to those dear to me, on account of a predisposition to faint. I experienced serious discomfort whenever it was necessary for me to inhale air that was not pure, and traveling seemed a great hardship.
When I began the study of Christian Science I was afflicted with a disease considered incurable, and many physicians agreed that nothing but the removal of the troublesome organs would bring relief, but I am now entirely free from this disease. I am indebted to Christian Science for my healing, and contrary to the verdict of physicians a child has been born to me since I was healed. About four years ago I took my seat in the coach of a suburban train, thinking that I would rest a little before the train started on its way. I fell asleep, and was awakened by the coughing and sneezing of many of the passengers. On looking about me for the cause of all the commotion. I discovered that our coach was filled with dense smoke and coal gas. I was breathing naturally and not suffering in the least. This caused me great surprise, for all my life I had been subject to asthmatic trouble, and to inhale gas of any kind, or air laden with dust or smoke, brought on distressing attacks. I then realized that I had been healed of this ailment also! The children have passed through most of the ills said to be common to childhood with no serious inconvenience. In nearly every case I have been able to do the healing work unaided, and to one held in the bondage of fear as I was,—lest one of the children should pass beyond,—this freedom brings me the greatest happiness and gratitude.
We have with some measure of success applied the Principle of Christian Science to whatever difficulties have beset us during the period of time from 1893 to the present. Space forbids my telling in detail of the spiritual uplift which we have gained by demonstrating in a practical way—the way which Mrs. Eddy teaches—that All is Mind; there is no matter.—Louise S. Andrews, Chicago, Ill.
