Christian Science is not a speculative theory nor a man-made philosophy of the human mind, it is a system of divine metaphysics based wholly upon the Bible; the definite rule for its application being completely and logically presented in the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Rev. Mary Baker Eddy. The spiritual interpretation of the Bible as given in this text-book, teaching that God is infinite divine Mind, that man in the image and likeness of God is infinite and spiritual, destroys sin and disease, freeing mankind from the darkness of despair and bringing him into "the glorious liberty of the children of God." This absolute and spiritual sense of the allness of divine Mind and its manifestations precludes the belief in the real or eternal existence of mortal mind or matter.

The doctor's statement that the cures of Christian Science may "be explained as the result of suggestion," is diametrically opposite to the correct modus operandi of Christian Science, for the healing is purely the result of prayer, the effectual, righteous prayer of understanding which enabled Jesus to restore sight to the blind, to make the lame to walk, to cause the winds and waves to obey him, to multiply the loaves and fishes to feed the multitude, to bring back from the dead the rich ruler's daughter, and finally to accomplish his own glorious ascension.
