It should be noted that the majority of those who turn to this Science for relief do so only after all other means have failed, or after they have seen for themselves convincing proof of its safety and success. It is well known that Christian Science is one of the most effective means for the cure of insanity, and in nearly all of its churches may be found persons who thankfully testify to having been saved from depression and despair, and even from suicide, through the joy and peace brought by its teachings. These are the natural results to be expected, for, as our critic himself admits, the relief of mental troubles also relieves the body; and since Christian Science teaches unlimited reliance upon God,—upon the all-power and all-presence of a loving Father,—it should follow that its mental (and consequent physical) relief to those in distress must be more complete than that offered by any other system. Years ago, in answer to a question, Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, explained that this teaching could not prove injurious to any one, and that it would, where properly applied, heal the insane.

Christians should remember that a science which inculcates the highest standards of morality; which reiterates daily prayer and Bible study; which reiterates Jesus' commandment to love one another, and which causes every adherent to strive for that Mind to be in him "which was also in Christ Jesus," must prove strengthening and uplifting to all who come under its influence.
