THE LECTURES
Ninth Church of Christ, Scientist, gave its first lecture on Christian Science, Oct. 2 and 3, in Assembly Hall, Masonic Temple, Bicknell Young being the lecturer. The introduction the first evening was by Lyman J. Hubbard, First Reader, who said in part, —
Truth is eternal, omnipotent, and will stand forever. Changing, erroneous views in time pass into oblivion, while Truth, which is always the victor, must first be proclaimed, proved, understood, and then universally accepted. The fiery ordeal of opposition has never impeded the mighty strides of single idea of Truth, but rather, on the contrary, stimulated its advocates to a greater endeavor towards the diffusion of instruction and a more general understanding. The Discoverer of Christian Science, having been convinced after most exacting tests that it is the truth, wisely allows it to stand or fall on its own merits, only asking all men, as did the apostle Paul, to "prove all things; hold fast that which is good."
