AMONG THE CHURCHES

An object of great interest to local Christian Scientists, as well as to those throughout Southern California, is the beautiful new church now being built by Second Church of Christ, Scientist, of Los Angeles, on Adams Street near Hoover. The site is an unusually fine one. The church stands on a terraced lot two hundred by two hundred and fifty feet, and the top of the dome, when completed, will be nearly one hundred and thirty feet above the street. Besides being the largest edifice built by this denomination on the coast, it will be the finest and most magnificent church building west of Chicago. It is expected to cost two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Because of the fact that on Wednesday evenings people speak from all parts of the house, the church is built without galleries, and will seat twelve hundred people on the main floor.

The writer had the pleasure of inspecting the progress of the building recently, and can truly say that the work being done appears wonderful both in construction and in detail. The span of the dome, held by great concrete trusses, is next to the largest in the country. At the present rate of advancement it is hoped that the building will be completed by spring.—Whittier News.
