I consider it a great pleasure to tell of the healing of my nephew. About a year ago the child, then six years old, was taken ill. The first symptoms were little noticed, it being thought that through careful nursing the child would soon be well; but his condition grew worse. I had spoken to my brother of Christian Science treatment as the only true remedy for the child; but he would not consent to it, and as the rest of the family felt as he did, a physician was called in. He recognized the attack as dangerous (probably epileptic), but did not wish to name it to the troubled parents. He advised that the child be taken to the children's hospital to be closely watched. The parents, however, did not desire this, and called in another physician, who made no promises of a rapid cure. Several days more passed, and the attacks appeared more frequently and in a worse form, each lasting several hours. The whole family was more or less excited, and finally my brother and his wife decided to call for help in Christian Science.

With their consent I went to a Christian Science practitioner, who took the case on March 24. She gave us assuring hope of healing, and told us that it was our part to keep the child in harmonious surrounding, to attend to his necessary wants, and leave the case to divine Love. After the first treatment the child had no more attacks, and began to improve, to the great joy of all the family. A grandmother of the little boy, who was helping to care for him, not knowing anything about Christian Science had opposed it, but when she saw this favorable change, her thought, too, was changed. In two weeks the boy was healed. Later on, in May, the practitioner was again asked for treatment. This same little boy had a troublesome affection of the eyes, but this was healed in a week. We have thus proved that the worst diseases of children are but dark phantoms of mortal mind, which disappear quite naturally before the divine reality. This healing was effected through absent treatment.
