Christian Science, as the name implies, is a system of healing which uses the spiritual means employed by Christ Jesus in his healing work. There is no evidence in the accounts of his work that the cures effected by him were brought about by "suggestion" or "concentration" of thought. He said, "The Son can do nothing of himself. but what he seeth the Father do;" and. "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Christian Science heals through the understanding of Truth and Love, operating in the human consciousness and destroying all erroneous beliefs of fear and sickness and their consequent effects on the body. In Science and Health, page 144, Mrs. Eddy says, "Human will-power is not Science. Human will belongs to the so-called material senses, and its use is to be condemned. . . . It produces evil continually, and is not a factor in the realism of being. Truth, and not corporeal will, is the divine power which says to disease, 'Peace, be still.' "
