Our infant daughter took a hard cold, which seemed...
Our infant daughter took a hard cold, which seemed to settle on her lungs and produce symptoms of serious trouble. While the child breathed with difficulty and lay in a kind of stupor, a messenger was sent to the village, half a mile distant, to telephone to a Christian Science practitioner in Mobile. After some delay the practitioner was reached and made acquainted with the conditions to be met, and she announced that treatment would be given at once. When the messenger returned, which was in the course of an hour, the baby was better. The next morning she was entirely out of danger; and in a few days a complete cure was effected. No medicine had been administered from the inception of the disease to the completion of the cure.
Prior to this experience we had proved the power of Truth in the cure of a most desperate case of paralytic trouble, coupled with spinal and hip disease. The subject in this case was our little son, a full account of whose healing was published in the Christian Science Sentinel of Jan. 27, 1906. We wish to say, in this connection, that the publication of this testimony brought us numerous letters, some in sympathy and some in doubt, from friends and strangers in this and other States. The article was copied by at least two newspapers, and the little boy, who is now nearly four years old and as active and intelligent as any boy of his age is frequently pointed out by residents to visiting strangers as one who had been healed by exclusive reliance upon Christian Science, when his case was regarded as being almost hopelessly incurable from the medical standpoint.
