I wish to contribute the following testimony out of gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. When Science and Health was handed to me I was an inveterate cigarette smoker of the worst type. About two months later I was a well man—the tobacco habit had left me. I was healed by studying the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, although when I began reading the book I was very much prejudiced against anything and everything pertaining to religion. I did not expect to gain anything by reading the book, but I had not read it through when a thought came and I wondered if it could really be true that there is a possiblity of our becoming acquainted with God, and to my joy and surprise I found that through this reading I was becoming acquainted with God as divine Principle, Life, Truth, and Love. While the truth was coming into my consciousness, the tobacco habit of fifteen years' standing was destroyed. This occurred four years ago, and the desire for tobacco, which a noted cure had failed to overcome, has never reappeared even in the mildest form. Since having had even a slight understanding of this truth I have been able to overcome many obstacles which to the human sense seemed very threatening. Now, when my patients in dental work come to have their teeth attended to, I see less fear manifest itself in their faces than formerly, Christian Science is certainly a boon to me, and I am sure it would be to any one who will take it up and seek the good that is to be found through the understanding of Truth. For the numerous benefits received in Christian Science I wish to express my thanks to God, to Christ Jesus the Master and Wayshower, and to Mrs. Eddy for her untiring effort to bring about peace among men and nations.
