[Written for the Sentinel.]

THE LITANY OF LIGHT

Enfold , my heart, the harmony
That falls from harps above;
The hosts of hate storm not thy gate,
Since all is Love.

Awake, my heart, and know the sun
That swallows dreary night;
Nor pain nor shade on thee is laid,
Since all is Light.

Reach out, my heart, and gather balm
To quiet grief and strife;
There is no zone where death is known,
Since all is Life.

Receive, my heart, the largess near
Of radiant livelihood;
No gift of gold doth God withhold,
Since all is good.

Search well, my heart, and find the fount
Of wisdom and of youth;
There is no spot where God is not,
Since all is Truth.

Look up, my heart, and hail the bloom
Where sin and clamor cease;
No discord lies in earth or skies,
Since all is peace.

Follow, my heart, where freedom calls—
Fling yokes of dust behind;
Thought is the source of living force,
Since all is Mind.

Welcome, my heart, the Spirit-touch,
And scan the Spirit-scroll;
The high and fine are ever thine,
Since all is Soul.

To arms, my heart, and wrest the good
From mighty things and small;
There beats no heart from God apart,
Since God is All.
