My life, health, and all I have I owe to Christian Science

My life, health, and all I have I owe to Christian Science. It has healed me physically and mentally, and uplifted me spiritually. For four years I did not know what it was to have either rest or peace day or night, and I was a burden to all who knew me. Sickness, sin, and death seemed to be all around me, and I was in despair, without hope and without God. I shall never forget my first visit to a Christian Science practitioner, when I caught a little glimpse of God as Love, and was told that through the study and practice of Mrs. Eddy's teachings I would find a sure way out of all my seeming misery. The practitioner gave me Science and Health, and the tract, "Rest and Peace on Earth," to read. I forgot all about my troubles, slept all night, and then ate whatever was set before me, although I had been on a milk diet. I loved Mrs. Eddy from the very first, and have loved her ever since; but I am just beginning to see and appreciate in a small way the wonderful unselfish lifework which was needed in order to bring peace and comfort to the whole world. I have never been in a place, no matter how dark, in this journey from sense to Soul, but that a poem, a hymn, or some passage from Science and Health, or Mrs. Eddy's other writings, has supported and sustained me until the waters were pacified and the Christ did "come to me, and tenderly, divinely talk" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 397). I hope I shall never get so far away from God as to forget to have unceasing gratitude for that dear, loving woman.
