I could write of many victories of Truth over error that have come within my experience during the past eight years, but will confine myself to one, a trouble which was not met quickly. We read of so many cases of almost instantaneous healing in Christian Science that perhaps one of slow healing will be helpful to some who have become a little discouraged. Ever since childhood I had been annoyed by ingrowing toe-nails. Doctors gave temporary relief by a slight but painful operation, but they said that permanent relief could only be obtained by removing the nail, although this operation was not always successful. When I asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner I had no reason for thinking that this trouble could not be met quickly, as two chronic diseases had disappeared in an incredibly short time, but for four or five months (it seemed like four or five years) there were many periods of discouragement when it seemed as if I must ask for help from a doctor. Not only the toes, but one foot was affected so much that part of the time a shoe could not be worn and even the weight of the bedclothes was intolerable. The many inclinations to ask for medical treatment were overcome, and gradually a change for the better began to be manifest. I had continuous treatment in Christian Science for more than a year before I fully realized freedom from bondage, and there have been a few occasions since that time, seven years ago, when it has been necessary to realize and hold to the fact of harmonious conditions until the toe ceased to trouble me, but this has never taken long.

It is a blessed comfort to know that for every ache, mental or physical, we have the right medicine—the truth—with us always, and that although we sometimes take too small a dose, yet it is not possible to take an overdose. I shall always feel that the one who first spoke to me of Christian Science is one of my best friends, for it has helped me to know that life is worth living.
