In speaking this word for Christian Science, my heart is...
In speaking this word for Christian Science, my heart is full of love and gratitude for what this wonderful truth has done and is doing for me in every way. By the study of Christian Science health is taking the place of disease, hope the place of discouragement, content the place of worry and discontent, as the understanding of divine Love and law becomes clearer. Some fourteen years ago, after years of ill-health, I was in a Chicago hospital to undergo a serious operation. In five and a half months I went home to Kansas, only to return to the hospital after nine months for another and more severe operation, which left me partially paralyzed for months, necessitating the use of crutches. A dear friend then told me of Christian Science, and I had three weeks' treatment, which brought me great benefit; but as I did not take up the study of Science, I soon found myself again in ill-health and suffering from the worst forms of stomach troubles, living for weeks at a time on nothing but liquids.
As man's extremity becomes God's opportunity, I again turned to Christian Science three years ago, after suffering all manner of physical and financial distresses, and am learning, through the study of our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, how to overcome error with truth, and to know God aright. The way in Christian Science grows brighter and clearer all the time; the mists are steadily rolling away, and from a wretched, despondent, and dependent person I am emerging from the darkness of material beliefs into harmony of spiritual understanding, and am learning to know that God is the source of all needed supply as well as of health. I have also been cured in Christian Science of a very bad case of eye trouble, after having had the help of the best oculists in Los Angeles and San Francisco, who pronounced it incurable. I no longer have to wear glasses and can see more distinctly without them than I ever did with them.
I cannot begin to tell the help and comfort which Christian Science is to me every day, and I thank God for our loving Leader and for the wisdom with which I have been so patiently led through my wilderness of doubts and fears into the understanding of Christian Science.
