I wish to express my gratitude for the great help I receive...
I wish to express my gratitude for the great help I receive from our periodicals. The Sentinel of March 27, clad in its new spring garb, was of such wondrous help to me that I should like to tell of it. In reading one of the testimonies I seemed to realize the truth of man's relation to God more strongly than ever before, and it remained in my thought the whole evening until I went to sleep. The next morning I awoke with it still in my thought, and pondering on it for some time, I seemed to gain the full realization as I rose to dress. A few minutes later I tried to light a little lamp, and before I knew what had happened I found myself enveloped in flames. There were four hooks to undo before I could get my dressing jacket off, but when I had succeeded and held it in my hands the flames were extinct, and then I saw that there was hardly a spot where the fire had not touched it. Neither my body nor my hands, which had to undo the hooks right in the flames, were in the least hurt, and did not even look red. My hair seemed badly burned at first, but after being dressed, nothing unusual could be noticed. If I had not so clearly seen the truth of the statement in that testimony, about our "real selfhood being in God," I am sure this incident would have had a very different ending. I know that in every copy of the Sentinel and Journal there is a special message for me, and I always search until I find it. The help I have received from Christian Science during the last four years cannot be told.
