Three years ago last June I was healed of what the doctors called a very serious case of stomach trouble. I had suffered for years; sometimes I was worse than at others, but often I would be so ill that I could not work. I tried the best physicians I could find, but they did me no good. About thirteen years ago I lifted a large stove alone, and as a result I had a very severe illness. I recovered from this attack very slowly, but finally was able to do light work. Three years ago last January I had another attack, without any apparent cause, and the doctor who was called decided to have a consultation with a specialist. After they had made an examination I was told that the only thing which could be done for me was either an operation, or else what they called "rest" treatment. I objected to the operation, so I was put to bed and given practically nothing to eat or drink for eighteen days, in hopes that the "rest" would heal my stomach; but even this treatment did not cure me, for as soon as I began to eat again I felt as bad as ever. In about four months I was just able to walk, and I was sent to Eureka Springs, Ark., in the hope that the water there would help me; but after I had been there about two months I became so much worse that I was almost in despair.

At this time I happened to see a sign in an upstairs window, "Christian Science Reading Room." The thought came to me that I should try Christian Science, and I made up my mind then and there to give it a trial. I found a practitioner and took my first treatment that day, and experienced great relief. I was healed of the stomach trouble in one week, so that I was able to eat anything I wished without any bad results whatever. I went to work in about two weeks afterwards, and have been at work practically all of the time since. Any ailment that has appeared since my healing has always been overcome by Truth in a very short time. I might add that the expense for medical treatment was very great, while all that I paid for Science treatment was fifteen dollars,—quite a difference in favor of Science.
