A recent Lesson-Sermon has brought back to me the thoughts which came when as a little boy I learned in Sunday School of the miracles performed by Jesus, and was told that God had sent him to earth and given him this power that the people might believe in God. The query had come then, Why does not God send some one to us now to perform these wonders, that we also might believe? This query grew almost to a complaint, until finally I gave up all efforts to understand the Bible or to know God. As I grew to manhood and went out into the world I forgot the Bible teachings of boyhood days.

After twenty-five years spent in indulging the so-called pleasures of the senses, without a thought of God, there came a time when one near and dear seemed to be drifting into a life of invalidism without hope of recovery. Then Christian Science was mentioned and tried, and when I saw the color returning to the cheeks, and the old-time vigor coming back, I began to wonder if Christian Science could really be the truth. Then the childhood thoughts came back, and I questioned if this could really be the answer to the query of early days, and if God had again sent a messenger to earth to show mankind how to approach Him and to be healed physically and mentally.

Shortly after this experience symptoms of a dread disease made their appearance, and I went from one physician to another, only to be told kindly that my surmises were true. Then it was that I turned to Christian Science with my whole heart and was healed of both sin and disease. Thus it has been proven to me that the words of Christ Jesus in the 14th chapter of John are not idle words, and that he knew what he was saying. In this chapter we are told that if we believe on him, the works which he did we shall do also, and that the Father would send us another Comforter, to abide with us forever,—"even the Spirit of truth,"—and that this Comforter would teach us all things and bring to our remembrance whatsoever he had said.
