FROM OUR EXCHANGES

[Rev. R. J. Campbell, A.M., in The British Congregationalist.]

Turn back to that man who has injured you vilely and cruelly, and against whom the hot anger arises in your heart when you think of him. Do you know all that is to be known about that flinty natured wretch? It may be hard to realize it, but it was not the true man who injured you; this poor child of the all-Father does not know himself nor you. Try to look beneath that selfish exterior, and your heart will fill with a great pity; you will not feel angry any more; you will only want to reach forth the hand of love to strike away the fetters and set the prisoner free. Look through the things that are seen to the things that are not seen. Look for the very Christ in every sinner, and you will not fail to find him. Ask to see what Jesus saw when on Calvary he prayed: "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." If Jesus could not have prayed that prayer he would not have been a Saviour. Such a vision is power, even though we only have it as in a glass darkly.
