THE LECTURES

A large number gathered at the theater last evening [May 9] to hear the lecture on Christian Science by Rev. Arthur R. Vosburgh of Rochester, N. Y. Dr. Granville Lowther introduced the speaker, saying in part,—

Mankind has endeavored in all ages of time to express what it has understood to be true in religion and philosophy, and the latest expressions have been the highest and best. We welcome that which gives us any contribution to the great fund of human knowledge. I have not yet accepted all that Christian Science teaches, but there is so much of beauty, so much that is apparently true, so much that is uplifting and helpful, that I hope for its success.
