Because the trustees of the Huntington Beach Union High School district believe that Christian Science is demoralizing to the community, Prof. S. M. Abbott has been summarily dismissed from his position as principal of the local high school (Huntington Beach), and will in all probability be compelled during the next year to earn a living for himself and family at some other occupation.

So far as the public was aware, school conditions were very satisfactory, and especially so as regarded the principalship. It was known to a great many that Professor Abbott clung to Christian Science as a religion, but as he had been employed upon his merits as a school teacher, no importance was attached to his church affairs, if for no other reason than that the question of religion was never brought up in the schools.
