It is now over a year since Christian Science brought me from the depths of suffering and depair. In August, 1904, I was taken ill one morning with a pain so intense I could hardly move, and after suffering a few hours a physician was called, who diagnosed the case as an ovarian disease. I steadily grew worse, and suffered agonizing pain through my whole body. I received no benefit whatever from medicine, and was kept under the influence of morphine constantly. After five weeks of this suffering I was obliged to break up housekeeping, and was then taken to the home of my parents. Another physician was called, but the results were no better; so a third and a fourth were also called. It seemed that each one differed from the others, and none knew what was the matter, but all agreed that medicine could not cure me, and that I must undergo an operation immediately, so arrangements were being made for me to go to a hospital for the operation. It was now eleven weeks that I had been suffering, not being able to bear my weight on my feet. One physician said I had taken almost enough morphine to kill me.

It was at this time of darkness and trouble that Christian Science was brought to my notice through a kind neighbor who had accepted this truth. She asked me to try it before having an operation, and the next day a Science practitioner was called. The same afternoon, after receiving one treatment, I arose, dressed myself, and walked a block to the home of this neighbor. The next evening I walked a mile, and the following day being Sunday, I attended the Christian Science church and felt but little discomfort after the long walks. I am now keeping house again and doing all my work, walk as much as I please, and do anything I wish to. Through this demonstration all of my parents' family and my husband have become Scientists. The understanding I have gained of Christian Science has also been of great help to me in my daily living.
