HISTORY

In these days when so much is being written about our Leader and Christian Science, it is well for us to remember that Mrs. Eddy has not left the world in ignorance of her early history, nor of the early history of the Cause which she has founded. We do not need to turn for information on these subjects to the alleged histories which have been published by unfriendly magazines and newspapers, for in "Retrospection and Introspection" our Leader has given us not only a summary of names and dates important in her early experience, but also a clear insight to the condition of thought which made her discovery possible.

The study of this book is important to Christian Scientists at this time, not only for the historical data which it contains, but also for the wise yet simple admonition and advice which are so frankly given, and for the lessons of Christian hope and cheer that fill its pages. The consistent Christianity of this book is of itself an answer to the attacks that have been made upon Mrs. Eddy and her works, and every Christian Scientist should be as familiar with it as they are with our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

When authentic information about Mrs. Eddy and Christian Science is so much in demand as it is at the present time, her followers should see to it that this is available to every honest inquirer, and for this purpose we most heartily commend "Retrospection and Introspection" as an authoritative statement of facts in connection with Mrs. Eddy's life and works with which it is well we should be familiar.
