AMONG THE CHURCHES

Second Church of Christ, Scientist, which recently recently purchased the Swedenborgian church property on the southeast corner of Sixth Avenue and Harrison Street, held their opening services in their new home Sunday [May 26]. The property, which has a frontage of fifty feet, is a very desirable location. The church contemplates building a beautiful church on this corner in the future. The present building has undergone a complete transformation. The usual Sunday services were observed, with the addition of a brief address by the president of the church, who in the course of her remarks said, "While we cannot dedicate our material building to-day, as it is not completely paid for, we can dedicate ourselves and our lives anew to God's service, and our real church, which is in the hearts of the people, can be so enlarged and consecrated in this service that it will prove a great blessing not only to ourselves, but to the city and community."—The Topeka State Journal.

Perhaps never in the history of Christian Science has the movement been so much discussed as it is to-day. In consideration of the fact that there is no proselything among the members, the growth of the Christian Science movement has been phenomenal. Dayton possesses one of the strongest and largest societies in the State, and it may prove of interest to many to note the progress and kind of work that is being accomplished by the local organization. Christian Scientists are everywhere reserved in their attitude toward the world at large, and content themselves with works rather than words. The fact is recognized that Christian Science is developing a great influence upon the world of religious thought and is effecting a marked revolution in social conditions as well as medical practice.
