EVENTS OF THE WEEK

In giving our readers a twenty-four page paper this week, instead of the usual twenty pages, we have had in mind their desire for full information concerning the answers under oath filed by the defendants in the proceedings now pending in the Superior Court at Concord, as the demands upon the space of most newspapers do not permit full reports of such matters.

We have, too, the pleasure of presenting a brief report of the sessions of the National Arbitration and Peace. Congress, contributed by Mr. McCrackan, who represented the Sentinel and our other denominational publications, as well as The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, upon this occasion. The work of Christian Scientists in behalf of the great peace movement is the logical result of Mrs. Eddy's teachings, in which she has always laid great stress upon the Christianity of peace, and the necessity of justice and brotherly love as the basis of human intercourse and the comity of nations.

This Congress has aroused public opinion as never before to the possibilities of universal peace, with an international court of arbitration as its chief agency in settling the differences of nations, and in this respect it was a great success; but it must not be forgotten that unless the peace of God is in the hearts of the people, the peace of nations is not assured.
