Before I heard of Christian Science I had spent much...
Before I heard of Christian Science I had spent much time in sanitariums and had been under the care of doctors and specialists for what was called chronic liver complaint, also a stomach trouble, accompanied at times by severe mental depression. At last I consulted an eminent physician of New York city, but did not gain under his treatment, and again passed nearly a year in and out of a sanitarium. Then the doctor told me medicine could do nothing for me, and I returned home without hope. A friend gave me a Christian Science Journal, which I read eagerly, and finding a practitioner's address, I wrote for treatment. After the first treatment (absent) I dressed and went to my business, to which I had given very little attention for nearly a year. I then had five weeks' treatment, and since that time, over eight years ago, I have not missed one day from business on account of illness. I have been in business in this city thirty-five years, and for many years our doctors' bills were from a hundred and seventy-five to five hundred dollars a year. Since I first heard of Christian Science I have never had any kind of material treatment. I am in the best of health, and am very happy in trying to live this wonderful truth which is made so clear through the teaching of our text-book, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, for which I humbly give thanks every day. After my healing, Christian Science meetings were started in my home, and now we have a flourishing church in this city. I shall be glad to answer any questions relating to my healing.
