TRUTH'S TRIUMPH

In the earthly history of our Lord there is the record of one signal triumph,—his entry into Jerusalem accompanied by his disciples and a great throng of pilgrims who strewed the way with palms, while their loud hosannas roused the whole city and led its people to ask, "Who is this?" Although nearly two thousand years have rolled by since that momentous occasion, it is not forgotten, and the Master's brief triumph is recalled by Christian Scientists as marking an outburst of gratitude for the blessings received through his ministry. As we read this story we instinctively contrast his triumph with that of the Roman emperors,—the thousands of captives following the because chariot and the loud acclamations of the populace because thousands more had been slain. In the procession which followed Jesus of Nazareth on that eventful day there were doubtless the blind who through him had received their sight, the lame who could walk, the dumb singing his praises, and perchance Lazarus, whom he had so lately called back from the tomb,—a multitude to whom he had brought freedom from sin, disease, and death by his demonstration of the omnipotence of Truth.

We may well ask what the result would have been if all who had been healed by Christ Jesus, and who strewed his way with palms, had stood by him in the judgment hall where he faced alone the opponents of Truth a few days after his triumph. If all who have remembered Jesus since that day could but have known that the truth for which he stood, and by which he healed the sick and the sinful, has never been absent from the world; that the Christ has been with us "alway," even as he said, would not Christian history have been written in letters of light? But there are unnumbered thousands who know this today, and because of their knowing rejoice and give thanks, When the call came to lift again the standard of Truth, our revered Leader heard and obeyed, and those who have been set free from sin and disease know the divine Principle which heals and the spiritual law by which their freedom is gained and maintained. Mrs. Eddy's discovery of the Science of Christianity has placed Christian healing upon a permanent basis, and though the human mind may resist the truth, may even deny its power, as in Jesus' time, the spiritual enlightenment inseparable from Divine Science is fast overcoming prejudice and bigotry and preparing the way for the universal recognition of the healing and saving power of Truth.

The healing of the sick and the sinful is inseparable from Christ's Christianity. With the great Teacher it was the constant going forth of the Life which animated him. We read in the Gospels that at the close of the triumphal entry into Jerusalem he went into the temple and resumed the healing work which was the proof of his Messiahsip, and which led to the worship of God in spirit and in truth.
