I first heard of Christian Science in 1886
I first heard of Christian Science in 1886. One of my children was suffering from a nervous disease, which three well known physicians in Denver had failed to cure; in fact, the child had grown steadily worse. One day a friend told me of Christian Science, saying that this method of healing was a mental process, and that no medicines were given. She also told of the cure of criples, and many others, all of which seemed strange to me. I was advised to take my child to practitioner, and being discouraged with materia medica I readily agreed to try Christian Science, little dreaming that it was the Christ-cure until so informed by the practitioner. It is needless to say that the child was healed; indeed, after the first treatment she never had another paroxysm, and they had previously lasted for hours. Rejoicing over the child's recovery, I decided to try the treatment for myself, and I was healed of severe headaches and bowel trouble from which I had suffered for years. My physical healing, however, was the smallest part; the worry, fear, and despair were removed, and I was a new creature. I was firmly convinced that at last I had found the truth for which I had so long been seeking. I have since been enabled to overcome disease, both for myself and others. It would be impossible to enumerate the many blessings which have come to me and to those of my household through this truth—moral, physical, and financial; but the greatest healing of all is the spiritual regeneration, and my heart overflows with gratitude to our beloved Leader for this understanding of Life, Truth, and Love gained from the study of our text-book.—Caroline Glaze,. Denver, Col.
