So far as I can remember, since I was four years old...
So far as I can remember, since I was four years old every day of my life had brought me pain and suffering. A severe ear trouble, which the physicians considered incurable, was the result of a fever. As my parents were people of means, every material method was tried for my relief; but all to no avail. The trouble grew with me, and became more and more unbearable from year to year, until I was often tempted to take my life. Now and then I consulted some authority among the physicians, and while they all at first gave me hope of lasting relief from suffering, after they had tried different painful operations their decision was ever the same: "No help." Finally opiates were administered.
At last Christian Science found me, about four years ago, My healing was slow but sure. The use of opiates was soon overcome. I am so happy and grateful that I learned to know God as the great and only Physician, that I wish to express my gratitude for having gained the right understanding of God and His beloved Son, Christ Jesus, During my first year in Christian Science I was healed of serious lung trouble in a few days. Then I laid aside my glasses, which I had worn for fifteen years, and my sight improved daily. During this last month my hearing has been perfectly restored.
Words fail me to express my gratitude for all these blessings from God. The study of our glorious text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which our beloved and revered Mrs. Eddy has given to suffering humanity, has made a new woman of me. I am willing to live and strive with a new and glad courage in God. May He help me to prove my great gratitude and love by living daily a humble Christian life.
