AT CHRISTMAS-TIDE

At Christmas-tide men's hearts grow kind,
The Bethlehem babe restrains their pride:
The whole world feels the Christ-child's mind
At Christmas-tide.

Yet if the Christ with us abide
The long year through, and welcome find,
Christ-love may be our daily guide;
At Christmas-tide.

And heart with broken-heart combined,
May send the blessing even world-wide,
From love to which the heart's inclined,
At Christmas-tide.
