When as a small boy I entered the Christian Science...
When as a small boy I entered the Christian Science Sunday School, I received my first spiritual awakening. I began to think of God as Love, and ceased to think of Him as a mighty personality to be feared. I was led to see the true meaning of many Scriptural passages, whereas in the Sunday Schools I had previously attended they had seemed material. I am glad that this truth came into my life at an early date, for I know it to be all important and of the greatest value to me. After learning the 91st Psalm I found it to be applicable to every need. It contains the truth by which we are able instantaneously to heal the sick. I have had many proofs of the ever-presence of God and that His power can be relied upon under every circumstance for the harmonious government of all things. By applying the understanding I have of this truth many ills and discords which have presented themselves to me have been over come. Christian Science has been particularly beneficial to me in connection with my school work. During my early work in the high school I came across some seemingly very difficult problems in algebra. Several of these were assigned as the lesson for the next day. I spent as much as three three hours in a vain attempt to work them out, but could not solve a single one. Finally I recognized the cause of failure in the fact that I was relying upon my own intelligence instead of upon God. So I changed my method and endeavored to realize my true relation to the one intelligence, and after a few moments began work anew. This time, as I read each problem I saw at once how it should be solved, and although no two had the same solution I had the correct answers to all within a few minutes. I went to school rejoicing, with a perfect lesson. Equal benefit has been realized in other studies. I would gladly recommend Christian Science to all students as the greatest aid to their education.
However little time I may seem to have I never neglect the study of the Lesson-Sermons. The greatest pleasure of each day is the reading of the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I deem the study of our text-book essential as the starting point for all who desire true success, for our Master said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." I am indeed grateful for Christian Science. and therefore to our Leader, through whose patient labor and love this truth has been revealed to the world.
